Week 9

Read a book names The Shakespeare Curse.

Here's the synopsis:
A brutally murdered body is discovered on a remote Scottish hillside ? with a mysterious ancient knife beside it. The victim was a beautiful young woman, throat slashed by an unknown assailant. The circumstances of the murder suggest ancient Pagan sacrifice. Then a trench on that same hill is found filled with blood. The shocking discoveries all seem to be linked by the ancient curse of Macbeth. From the streets of New York to the twisting corridors of Hampton Court Palace to a remote loch in the Scottish Highlands, the race is on to stop a deadly modern serial killer who will doanything to uncover priceless ancient treasures... A thrilling, action-packed page-turner, The Shakespeare Curse blends present-day crime with fascinating revelations from the life and work of Shakespeare. It is one of the most eagerly-awaited novels of 2010.

But I found it a bit hard to follow the writing of the owner, Carrell. But it's definitely a good book to read.
Anyway, I still prefer the movie version.

Week 7

I didn't attend the oral hour today as I am not feeling well.
Thus, during my SALL hour, I watched movie as it's not too demanding for me.

The movie I watched is New York, I love you. Of course, I have watched it without the subtitles and found that it actually helped as I feel that I am able to listen and catch up the speed and accent of the native speakers.

Interesting movie to recommend.

Work on Grammar again.
Worked on the grammar notes distributed earlier and study some common mistakes.

I've also worked on some grammar quizzes on the website:

I love reading the idioms because I think that it will be able to help me to improve my English and made my writing to a higher level.

During the SALL hour, I went through some phrasal verb examples in the website.

Week 4

Chinese New Year is coming.
I didn't do my SALL hour at the designated time but I did something during my way back to Malaysia for Chinese New Year celebration.
But still, I did something relaxing - watching English movie without subtitle.
I watched 17 Again on the plane and try to switch off the subtitle.
It was a good training for me and the movie is quite simple and easy to understand.
Love watching movie!
